Korea-China Song Festival Expected to Boost Korean Wave

The 9th Korea-China Song Festival, which is being co-organized by KBS and China’s CCTV, has opened in Beijing, China.

The festival is expected to promote the Korean Wave in China, as many top Korean artists will show off their impressive vocals and even Chinese-speaking skills to Chinese audiences.

I am downloading the MV as I am writing this ^^ . This is the phone CF series that Hyo-Ri did – u know, the Anycall, Anystar, Anyclub, Anymotion series. Anyway, they actually formed a project band called “Anyband” !!

I have included pics from their press conference, 2 translated Chinese news and 1 non-translated Japanese news. Err…the J-news actually contained some of the things that Tablo & BoA talked during the press con…I see if I have extra time to go through it so **maybe** I’ll try my hands in deciphering the text.

Note: Please click on the pic for the original size.

No, not talking about the chair in my house but this new group. Interesting news so now I have to go and search for their MV / song :)

New Group Happy Chair Tops TVXQ on Charts

New 4-member group Happy Chair haa knocked down top boy band Dong Bang Shin Gi from their #1 spot.

Happy Chair’s first single “Forte” topped Kyobo Book Stores’ online music orders, outdoing Dong Bang Shin Gi’s new album, “Shine/Ride On.”

The group’s agency stated that the group’s collaboration with popular singer/song-writer Lee Soo-Young and producer Ji Woo created a buzz.

Happy Chair will make their formal debut at the end of the month and their first album will be released on October 5th.

…lots of artists will be there – JVKV, Golf & Mike, Lee Hyo-Ri, SG Wannabe, SUJU, DBSK, Gigi Leung, A-Mei, Kuraki Mai, etc. Looks interesting…

Ah, I have someone commented that JVKV will disband soon – yes, I have read that CRIEnglish news but I chose not to post it until they really do coz I have tried verifying the news over at Taiwan Yahoo or HK Yahoo but no such news.

You have been wondering who’s Golf & Mike. For those who followed Johnny Ent.-related news, you will already know who they are. They are from Thailand and they did a single (or two, I think only one, not that sure) with Yamapi (err..aka Yamashita Tomohisa).

Kuraki Mai is a female Japanese singer-songwriter. I haven’t got around to listen to her music.

Gigi Leung is from HK and A-Mei is from Taiwan. There are also artists from Vietnam and Thailand…since I don’t listen to the music from those countries, I don’t really know who they are.

Geez, I was away for a day (laptop has to be configured) and look at what happened ?!

Rapper 60row is making a lot of buzz because of his song “stop ya music” and eliciting hot reactions from Netizens.

This song looks down on idol groups like SG Wanna Be, TVXQ!, BIG BANG and others and labeled them as “rubbish” and insisted that since “rubbish” is the trend in Korean music, it is going wrong.

60row is set to release an album in summer.

Cred: kanpooh + kpopper

According to this soompi thread (by lilshinhwafreak), this rapper said that all 3 of them are not musicians but only musicians who think that they are good with music. He also personally bashed G Dragon (of Big Bang) in the song. He added that Korean music has became boring and plain. (quoted source courtesy of lilshinhwafreak from soompi.com)
I guess this guy just using the popularity of these 3 group of artists to promote himself. I’m opened to opinions but you can still write about the state of Korean music industry without bashing. That’s just so LOW!

Even though I never really followed news of Big Bang or DBSK, I never actually heard them saying that they thought themselves as musicians who are good with music. Similar for SG -SG never said things like that.

=================================

You can vote here. But I think you will have to be a member first :) . Anyway, I’m happy that some of the artists that I like (or the songs) are here.

The event will be held on 26th May.

The hottest idol star group in Korea TVXQ has launched its second Asian tour.

TVXQ kicked off the tour with an electrifying 2-1/2 hour concert last Friday at the Olympic Park in Seoul.

The concert theme was “anti-war” and the show befittingly started off with blaring sirens. Throughout the concert, black-and-white images of war and terrorism around the globe were shown in the background. Then the TVXQ members, dressed up as “sci-fi warriors of peace,” put on a spectacular segment entitled “Dangerous Mind” together with 50 flag-waving military-garbed dancers.

In another segment, members dropped down 17 meters from the air to rescue a woman drowning in the sea, which earned thunderous applause from the audience.

Individual members each had the chance to flaunt their vocal talents later on. Xiah Jun-su sang his own composition “My Page” and Micky Yoo-chun performed his own rendition of Brian McNight’s “One Last Cry.”

The concert repertoire included 24 songs, showcasing the group’s hits such as “Hug” and “Rising Sun.” When it was time to sing a piece from their album “Triangle,” they were joined by female Chinese singer Jang Ri-in.

Reflecting their popularity in Asia, over 1,500 fans from Japan, China, Thailand, and five other Asian nations attended the concert. The final tally of the audience stood at 12,000.

After holding three concerts in Seoul, TVXQ will continue the Asian tour in the latter half of this year, visiting Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and three other cities.

But first they will go to Japan to release a single and its second album “Five in the Black” in March, and go on a nationwide tour of Japan in May.

It should be 4 other cities. They are Taipei – Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, Jakarta – Indonesia (I’m not sure which city in Jakarta) and Singapore.

I will not be going for their concert this time as well, I already went to their concert and I’m not really a fan of them. The reason I went was because it was the first Korean artist concert to be held in Malaysia – historical reason.
