Daniel Wu

Stills from the upcoming movie from Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Daniel Wu.  Something about 3 policemen who is investigating and later involved in a financial crime.

I always like to watch Daniel Wu in movies, ever since I first saw him in City of Glass. I have tried to watch all of his movies as I can, even though, I have yet to succeed. So far, of all his movies, the ones that I like are Love Undercover (the first one), Enter The Phoenix, One Nite in Mongkok (even though I don’t really like Cecilia Cheung) and Divergence (although the focus is on Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng, IMO). He did quite well in Protege actually.

Oh, talking about Protege, did he kill himself??? O_O I don’t really remember the ending, I only remembered the scene where he sat in Zhang Jing-Chu’s sofa, wearing his cop uniform and not sure if he uses the drug box that belongs to the girl. I thought her child saved him in the end? No???

I found them – the pictures from the picture book. They were simply gorgeous – I really like the use of Black & White for the pictures (most of them!). There were lot of them but I only downloaded the ones that I like. You may go to the links if you want to view them all. :)

The set design is good … I wonder, since “Lust,Caution” is also from similar period, which movie will be better (in terms of art direction)?

I heard about this movie from Twitchfilm.net. They usually talks about Asian Films and horror/sci-fi/thriller movies. Anyway, I have downloaded the trailer – just no time to watch it. I’m interested in it coz… lol, can’t you see who’s on the cover (hint: left side). The poster stated that the film will be released on 9th August in China. Err…Im guessing China coz it was written in Simplified Chinese.

Anyway, besides him, we have Liu Ye and Zhang Chen… :)

I heard about the positive review of Ming Ming, another film of his with Zhou Xun.

Hmm…I’m getting sick of hearing Hollywood remaking this and remaking that. It sounds as if they are running out of ideas to make films – not that they are coz if you looked at their list of films released for 2007 – a lot of them are really original films.

I quite like this film, even though I don’t think it is a heavy film – plot-wise. It is those film that you can watch without using your brains. And Daniel Wu is simply gorgeous in this movie (even though he played a gay guy!)

Sir Run Run Shaw to be Honoured in his Centennial Year

The 26th Hong Kong Film Awards will be taking place on 15th April with many guests such as Korean stars Kwon Sang Woo and Song Hye Kyo who will be presenting the awards for the Best Asian Film. Reports also suggest that a special award for ‘Achievement in Film of the Century’ will be presented to Sir Run Run Shaw.

The HKFA president Manfred Wong indicated that in addition to the 19 regular awards, there will be two special awards this year. The award for ‘Professional Spirit’ will be presented to long-serving and well known make-up artist ‘Sis Chun’, who has given countless artistes a special confidence in front of the camera with her work. The second special award is for Achievement in Film over the century and this will be presented to Sir Run Run, who turns 100 years old this year. Sir Run Run’s life has been like a living history of the Chinese film industry and HKFA is honoured to present him with this award, which will be collected by Sir Run Run’s son on the night.

Wong also indicates that Quentin Tarantino has announced a re-make of Shaw Brothers classic “One Armed Swordsman” and this has raised focus. People from the industry indicate that since the activities held to mark the first anniversary of the Shaw Bros Fan Club at the beginning of the year, the media has started a series of activities to mark their respect for Sir Run Run.

Guest performers have been confirmed for the awards show that include Jay Chow, Eason Chan and Daniel Wu. The show will be hosted by Nick Cheung, Lam Tze-Chung and Bowie Tsang. Mainland stars Huang Xiaoming and Liu Yifei are also planned to present an award, but Liu is yet to confirm.

I’m waiting for his “Devil” drama. More information about the drama can be found here. The plot sounds interesting as it involves ESP :) . Don’t remember a Korean drama that talk about this subject before.

The article didn’t state who was chosen for China region….
