Excellent voices. One of my favorite 2006 Korean albums.

I first heard about this group when I downloaded the MV for the Korean movie, “Romance”. That song (“Da Shi Sarang Hal Sool Eet Eul Ga”) was a duet with Park Jung Eun and Soulciety (don’t know who they were at that time, too). It was a great ballad-type song, their voices were excellent and the nice scenes excerpts from the movie – who wouldn’t fell in love with the MV and song?
Later I came across their third album, “Andante”, over at z-degrees forum and absolutezero had put a recommended tag on it (if I remembered correctly). I downloaded it and since then the album has become a mainstay in my Winamp Player.
So who are 4Men? I tried to find their information on the internet but there’s not much information. I did find out that the current 4Men have had I did find out that the original 4Men was a pioneer of R&B in Korea. The original 4Men comprised of Yoon Min-soo, Jeong Se-young, Lee Jeong-ho and Han Hyun-hee and they debuted back in 1999. Yoon Min-soo left the group in 2001 and formed a new group Vibe (with Ryu Jae-Hyun and Yoo Sung-Gyu). The remaining 3 members found a new guy, J1, and re-grouped to release their third album this year - after 5 years of hiatus from the K-pop scene. You may think that Vibe and they were not on friendly terms but after I took a look at the lyric booklet – o_O all the songs were either composed by Yoon Min-Soo, Ryu Jae-Hyun and Yoo Sung-Gyu. They also produced the songs with 4Men. Yoon Min-Soo was featured in Track #2. Ryu Jae-Hyun played the piano for the first track, “To MJ”. Not to mention that Track #4, “Why Mo Reut Get Ni”, and Track #9, “Wish So Mang”, were remakes of Vibe’s songs (from Vibe Vol 2 and Vol 1 respectively).
The whole album consists of mainly ballad/R&B type (with bit of rap), which actually the type of songs that I like. The first track (“To MJ”) was a beautiful piano instrumental of the second track (“Go Baek” or “Confession”). It paved the way nicely to the second track. Of course, I have no idea who’s MJ :p.The MV for “Go Baek” was a sad one. It starred Jung Kyung-Ho and the plot was about him who couldn’t forget his fiancée who has died in a car accident. Track #6, as mentioned earlier, was the first track that I heard from them and it’s another great song. 4Men did another version of this song (Track #14), which only have 4Men vocals (no Park Jung-Eun here). I also like this version. I didn’t know that there were 2 remakes of Vibe’s old songs (Track #4 and Track #9) until I did a search on Google (for 4Men information).
I recently came across (and downloaded) the only 4Men performance that I could find. It was a fancam but well, it’s still a live performance! They performed Track #6 (“Da Shi Sarang Hal Sool Eet Eul Ga” or “Can I Love Again”) with Park Jung-Eun. Their live performance was very good – sounded the same as their studio version. And I finally knew who’s the lead voice was. Even though it was a blurry, I think he was J1 because he’s the only one in 4Men that has long hair :p.
The CD was in my favourite color (Blue). Some pictures of 4Men and their names – which was nice for people like me who do not know who’s who. However, I wished they provide more than just the names – some profile information would be nice ^^. The whole CD utilized some flowery patterns which was quite unique. I like how the CD was covered – it had a slip-on (refer to picture).
